Xikar Allume Single Torch Lighter

The flame is great for cigars and pipe. The fuel indicator is not easy to discern, and my primary complaint is that the lighter ignites by pushing in the side of the lighter, and it isn't as easy to use.

Great reliable attractive lighter. Very small, so be aware of that, but to many people that's a good thing! Single-action, so as you press the side trigger, the following sequence happens automatically: (1) burner cover moves away exposing burner, (2) ignition. As you release: (3) fuel cut to burner, (4) burner cover moves back over burner. This means the burner is covered at all times except when actually operating, so it's very hard for dirt to ever get in there. The other advantage is, it prevents "run on" problems such as not realizing the burner's still going for a few seconds after you release the button, then you set the lighter down next to your newspaper. OUCH! By covering the burner instantly upon button release, this can't happen. Very nice. To the guy who said the single torch wasn't wide/broad enough, there's a simple fix for this and all single jets: just do some "temporal multiplexing" as the geeks say. Rapidly wiggle the lighter (and thus the jet) back and forth quickly from one side of the cigar's foot to the other, while slowly rotating the cigar over the wiggling jet. This makes your single jet work like a much wider flame that's the entire width of the cigar's foot. Anyway, great lighter with lifetime warranty, if you want a small single-jet, buy it!

Beautiful instrument. It's tiny. I bought it in the CI store in the Colony. Fantastic store by the way. It seems more powerful than my cheap triple flame even though it only has a single flame. It's better for precision touch ups and pocket-a-bility than a triple or more lighter but I do find my self wishing I had a broader light when it needs a real re light or the first light. Anyway a solid product I don't think anyone would be unhappy with but you may also want a larger lighter. One thing I do like about my cheaper clear tank lighter is it's easier to see how much fuel is in it. This one has a tiny fuel window. If you consider it's purpose of small and unobtrusive it's top notch and good looking. Can't go wrong with lifetime warranty.
