Torano Exodus Gold 1959

Description

Buckle up camper, this gratifying cigar will take you on a thrill ride!

Carlos Toraño makes some of the most consistently tasty cigars around. They quietly ply their craft with a focus on quality, and the Exodus 1959 blend is one of their finest. Have a look at this stick. It’s hard to pull your eyes away from the wrapper - it hugs the filler blend like a river of dark chocolate. Gorgeous. After lighting, a blast of creamy, slightly spicy greets you, followed by some slightly chocolatey note. Medium to full-bodied, it’s composed of an Habana 2000 wrapper accompanied by a complex, five-country blend of Dominican, Honduran, Mexican, Nicaraguan, and Costa Rican tobaccos.

In addition to Top 25 honors and several 90+ ratings, Exodus Gold 1959 received a well deserved 92-point score, noting: "Wonderful texture on this dark, box-pressed beauty. It is woody and toasty with a solid black cherry note and hints of cedar. Rich, balanced and elegant.

Cigars draw flawlessly, everyone of them smoked as they should and tasted just like a 1959 should taste. Box pressed construction was great.

Well made Cuban pressed beauty. Excellent draw with mild flavor. Burns true with no canoeing or plugging. Sweet aromas of chocolate and gardenia make for a pleasant smoke you won't want to put down. One of my "go to" brands for over 20 years now.

These are Torano's best. They easily earn their 93 rating. The burn is even and the ash on one of them made it to the halfway mark. I have a box of their Noventa and got a fiver of the Casa Torano. Haven't had a bad cigar across the board. The Exodus Gold 1959 will always have place in my humidor.

For sure agree with other comments. It burns uneven. Also, box pressed by a first day rookie. Wrappers are pinched on the corners. Honestly these just seem like these are seconds.

These have a great aroma on the pre-light draw, and even after toasting the foot and the first few pulls are awesome. Flavor and aroma were slightly different from what I typically smoke, but somewhere after halfway, it started getting pretty tarry and bitter. I also had a couple issues with some mild uneven burn, but not awful…couple touchups and onward. There’s a decent chance I was to blame for some issues but the humidity was stable, and I usually let my sticks breathe a little before I light up; perhaps just a couple one offs… Not mad about the purchase and not the worst I’ve ever had but after I finish these 10, I’m not likely to order any in the near future.

Always consistent flavor and draw with Torano. Although I have had this particular blend many times before, this is one manufacturer I would buy from on reputation alone.

This used to be a great cigar but the quality has gone downhill since American General bought the company. The cigars tend to canoe. It is an ok buy on sale but for full price I would buy Henry Clay.

The torani exodus is a dark stick with a complex flavor and smoke. I love the firm box press on these. Every one that I have smoked has a perfect draw and strong ash hold.

I've smoked 2 of these since I received them. The first one burned erratically and the flavor was so so. The 2nd burned evenly from start to finish and was much better. It seems that the quality may not be consistent. If the rest of the order burns like the 2nd cigar, I would buy them again.

Carlos Torano Exodus 1959

Steve R
This Editor’s Pick can be summed up with two words: HERSHEY BAR. As many have already found out for themselves, the Torano Exodus 1959 is gorgeous. Dark, sharply boxed-pressed cigars that seem to leak natural oils, causing me to froth at the mouth every time I reach into the humidor to grab one. In my opinion, this is the best Torano to date, and as an added bonus, it’s perfectly stackable for easy storage!

I’ve smoked more Exodus Torpedos and Toros than I could ever begin to count, so I could probably write this in my sleep. But that would just make me want one, so I might as well grab another from the humi. As usual, Torano is right on key in quality. The Habana 2000 wrapper is prime – smooth, dark, oily and nary a blemish in sight. Construction is solid – the torpedo cap is perfect, there’s no soft spots to be found and the square-press is impeccable. What more can you expect from Carlos Torano? The man knows how to make a stogie! Now it’s time to sit back and relax as I enjoy this super-slow burning Honduran cigar. To say it features an assortment of flavors is an understatement. It’s made with a 5-country blend of long-leaf tobaccos: Honduran, Dominican, Mexican, Nicaraguan, Costa Rican. Amazingly, the Torano family managed to pinpoint the best nuance from each of these tobaccos to create a wonderfully complex smoke. I notice a rich, chocolatey character from the Nicaragua leaves. The robust earthiness must be derived from the Honduran leaves. The spiciness that lingers on my palate is a combination of premium Mexican and Costa Rican tobaccos. All while the mellow and smooth Dominican tobaccos tame the smoke a bit, keeping things on the medium-bodied level. A 90 minute, 5-country tour for my palate that I’ve revisited many times before, and will probably never get bored of. Open up any of my humidors, on any given day, and you will find at least one Exodus 1959 waiting for me. Just make sure it’s still there when you close the humidor, ya mooch.

Torano Exodus 1959

Brandon S

Boy Howdy! If it could ever be possible to infuse a chocolate bar into a few leaves of tobacco and roll it into a cigar, it would unquestionably be called a Torano Exodus 1959! Now don’t get me wrong here because I’m not saying that this is a flavored smoke in any way. Instead, what I’m trying to get across to you without actually handing you one is the fact that this cigar truly has something unique to offer.

Take one from the box and the first thing you will notice is the chocolate-brown Habana-2000 wrapper which, upon close inspection hints at the care and quality poured into the creation of each cigar. Generally speaking, a cigar laden with bumps and veins is not particularly appealing and often leads to soft spots that ultimately promote a poor burn. However, you’ll find none of that here...from cigar to cigar and from box to box each Exodus 1959 is as smooth and soft as a piece of fine silk. Underneath these gorgeous and oily Habana-2000 wrappers lies an unparalleled blend of tobaccos from five (count’em…5!!!) countries. Farms from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Costa-Rica all contribute long-filler tobacco to the Exodus blend and when combined yield an amazingly complex yet smooth and rich flavor. Toast the foot and fire one up and you will first notice the rich and earthy flavor accompanied by a subtle chocolate-like note. Continue on and the complexity afforded by the five-country filler blend becomes more and more evident as the flavors change from subtle and rich to slightly spicy with creamy undertones. The chocolate nuances are now more pronounced and, as with all Torano products, the burn and draw are impeccable. Simply put, the list of factories with the ability to produce cigars this consistent in both flavor and construction year after year is very short. What’s infinitely more mind-boggling is the fact that a cigar like this can be had everyday without breaking your wallet. At less than $4 each Torano proves that you can have your cake and eat it too!

Truly an excellent value for the dollar, the Torano 1959 brings you quality, complexity and a robust array of flavors at a price that makes it a top candidate for an “everyday” smoke. My personal advice is to kick back and light one up, let it burn for an inch or so to acclimate your palate to the flavors and then set yourself up with a strong double-espresso for a cigar-smoking experience like none other. Trust me on this one, you won’t be disappointed!
