Tatuaje Havana VI

Description

Another tasty Tatuaje for you to enjoy.

Carefully hand-crafted in Nicaragua, Tatuaje Havana VI is a richly rendered Nicaraguan puro. Dark and oily, these fine cigars combine a beautiful Nicaraguan wrapper with a robust blend of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-leaf tobaccos. Patiently aged and expertly balanced, Tatuaje VI is medium in body with a smooth earthy core, rich undertones and a touch of pepper.

Tatuaje Havana VI received a well-deserved 93-rating noting: "A gorgeous little corona with a dark red wrapper. It is a black cherry bomb that is peppered with spice and leather flavors. A strong, complex cigar with a long finish."

The Tatuaje brand is incredibly highly-rated, and features a huge variety of cigars. Shop them all here

No problem with the flavors or construction of this cigar. But as others have said, it is very mild for a Tatuaje. And that’s not why I’m such a huge fan of this company. Go for the Conoju instead.

I recall getting a couple of these in cigar of the month club quite a ways back and recalled they were a great smoke. It's still true, very nice draw and a good 50 minutes

Wonderful flavor, but the ash is soft, and falls off unexpectedly. Not a long filler unfortunately.

If you're looking to fill your box with some smokes that are not too mild and not too full-bodied, look no further. Your ideal medium is here. This is a perfect cigar for those looking to up their game in the strength category; if all you smoke is Macanudo's, but are looking for a little more excitement in your life...but not too much.

I really like Havana VI cigars. But the Angels is too small and tight. Not an easy draw. Taste is good however.

The Tatuaje Havana is a well constructed cigar. It is on the strong side but pleasing in flavor with a even burn. Overall a good cigar.

Great little stick and good value. The flavor profile is right up my alley and good everyday stick...I really like the size of the Victorias. Will be trying more of the line for sure.

While this isn't my favorite Tatuaje it is still a very good cigar. After letting the box rest for two weeks, I fired one up yesterday. The flavors, draw and smoke output were great. Unfortunately, the construction was Gurkha-like and burned in a non-Tatuaje fashion. It canoed most of the time and required numerous touch ups. I hope this was a fluke as I have 24 more to smoke.

This smoke draws smooth with a hefty aroma, reminding you of Cubano seed, but stays true throughout the cigar. Highly recommend it.

How can I ever be forgiven for waiting years to try a Tatuaje? While checking out on line a 5 pack of these were offered at a great price so I pulled the trigger. CI you trickster, you knew someone like me would select one of your last choice items just before closing their purchase. I'm so glad that your brilliance allowed me to discover a great cigar in all areas of the scale. The flavor, even burn, and ample smoke, were all one could expect in a quality cigar. As others have written, I'm just sorry that I can't afford a box of these at the present. Don't under estimate the amount of time this Noble will smoke because of it's size. I got nearly an hour of pleasure out of the Tatuaje Havana VI. A must try for those who like well constructed cigars.

Customer Testimonials
With a weeks rest I grabbed my first Tatuaje Havana VI Nobles. What a great cigar. Deep flavors and a finish that doesn't quit. Ash held for over an inch before it fell off on its own. Just the slightest wavy burn at times but nothing to complain about. These are going to be in my humidor from now on.
AD of Lincoln, KS
"CN" of Arnold, Mo. needs a palate replacement! I just ordered my 2nd 5-pk of these excellent cigars because I've been unable to forget the delicious taste of the last one I savored. I'da ordered a box if I could have afforded one. This is one of the most enjoyable, memorable smokes I've had in forty years of cigars!
LS of Burkburnett, TX
well i tried this cigar for one reason..the first review on this cigar was from someone who thought this cigar was a complete waste of money..every other review was positive....this was a nice cigar with plenty of taste and body.the appearance was not to my liking, but i did not let that stop my review.it was a nice medium bodied cigar with plenty going for it..i would buy it again.i gave it a 86/100. ....
TD of CHAMPLAIN, NY
When I belly-up to the counter at my local shop, this is my usual selection. The Havana VI is just an incredible cigar. The opening puff is so incredible it defies description....the only thing I can call it would be an intense and crisp leathery spice. The burn and draw on these are the most consistent in all of Pete Johnson's already L'oeuvre-worthy masterpieces. They are full flavored and complex. Easily one of the most delicious cigars I have ever smoked...and worth every cent.
JP of Xenia, OH
Reading the reviews of this cigar you get both ends of the spectrum. Not sure how anyone can complain of the draw and flavor I find them both outstanding. At the mid-way point this thing turns into a monster that you can't believe you only paid 6 bucks. The burn is incredible, draw is flawless flavor intensifies on last third. Very impressive smoke!
HB of Edgewood, MD
This cigar is Pete Johnson's trademark cigar and after a 5 pack its easy to know why. Tatuaje is a medium bodied cigar that is semi sweet and very intriguing until the end. The flavors have a hint of cherry, small notes of coffee and a great flavorful aftertaste that lasts. This is one of a kind cigar and when I mean one of a kind, i mean one that you dont want to put down. I would give this cigar a 93 rating.
SP of Winona, MN
A $2 smoke at best. Not much flavor, flavor is not that good. Two thirds of the way through it became bitter.
TS of Knoxville, TN
What a waste of $7! Absolutely horrible draw and very one dimensional flavor profile. I am a big Don Pepin fan, but this has to be one of the worst cigars he has blended. Don't waste your money, their is plenty of better smokes out there for less.
CN of Arnold, MO
Quite a nice cigar. Strongish without being harsh and with an excellent ash, burn and flavour. Spicy and a bet peppery The pre-light aroma almost makes you want to not light the thing! Well made and attractive. Must get some more of these.
MC of MLeesburg, VA
WHAT CAN I SAY? EVERYONE KNOWS HOW GOOD THE TATUAJE LINE IS. BUT I MUST TELL YOU THAT THE TATUAJE HAVANA VI IS THE BEST IN THE WHOLE LINE. GREAT PUNGENT SWEET AROMA, HICKORY AND LEATHER FLAVOR. THE ANGELES SIZE IS VERY POTENT FOR A LITTLE SMOKE. VERY SATISFYING. IT WILL HAVE YOU GABBING LIKE A WOMAN AFTER YOU FINISH ONE.
SC of Shreveport, LA
Absolutely in love with the (Tatuaje Havana VI). I've got two boxes so far, and I'm intending on hoarding more as the wallet(and the wife) permits. One heck of a cigar, and it just happens to be on the cheaper side of Tatuaje's cigars, which works very well for me!
MT of Lincoln, NE
The Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles is rated a 93 by Cigar Afficionado and deserves every single point. This is a powerful (POWERFUL!!!) small cigar that packs a punch but remains smoooooth to the very end. The hard part is finding them...GOOD LUCK!

Diesel VS. Tatuaje Havana VI

Brandon S

By popular demand I’m switching up my normal mantra of reviewing a cigar and giving it my personal rating…for this round I’ve decided to review 2 CIGARS! That’s right gents…side by side comparison of two truly boutique blends – The Diesel Unholy Cocktail vs. Tatuaje Havana VI. Both of these blends have received high praise from consumers since they hit the market and well, I’m gonna see how they stack up against each other…mano y mano – or I guess it would be cigaro y cigaro.

First, I’ll select the vitolas for this matchup:

DIESEL – No brain power necessary for this one. Only comes in one size, dubbed the Unholy Cocktail – it’s a stout 5x56 belicoso that comes packed in a box of 30.

HAVANA VI – This selection took some consideration. There are 2 sizes that share similarities to the Diesel Unholy Cocktail. There’s the Gorditos - a 5.5x56 standard parejo that’s slightly longer with the same ring gauge OR, the Artistas - a 6.25x52 Torpedo that shares the same shape as the Diesel. Hmmm…I’m going to go with the Gorditos.

Next, the wrapper and the blends:

DIESEL – Blended by Abdel Fernandez in Nicaragua, the Diesel is constructed with top-notch Nicaraguan long-fillers and finished with a gorgeous Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro wrapper. Once only utilized as a binder or for filler tobaccos, the PA Broadleaf is becoming increasingly popular among manufacturers for use as a wrapper. It yields a spicy yet sweet character that true maduro wrappers are known for and an extra layer of power to boot.

HAVANA VI – Tatuaje’s Havana VI is a Nicaraguan Puro meaning that the entire cigar is made from tobacco grown in Nicaragua. It utilizes a Nicaraguan Corojo 99 wrapper and is manufactured by Pepin Garcia in his shiny new Nicaraguan factory.

                Third, the flavor and body:

DIESEL – I’ll admit, I’ve burned literally dozens of these since they were released, and every time I am greeted with a medium-full bodied experience that is nothing short of uber-complex. There is a spiciness on the front of the palate and a nice peppery yet sweet finish that keeps me coming back for more. As the cigar develops it tops out with one heck of a full-bodied crescendo.

HAVANA VI – I’ve had a few of these in my time in various shapes and sizes. The Nicaraguan tobaccos really shine through on this blend giving it the trademark Cuban-esque flavor that Pepin has come to be known for.

                And Finally – Price:

DIESEL – Pricing for this cigar goes above and beyond the call of duty in my opinion. Available for around $3 per stick…the price of a cup of coffee at your swankier joints – it’s a no-brainer to at least test a few out.

HAVANA VI – This line is a little more ‘spensive than the Diesel. Suggested retail on the particular vitola for this review is $7.50. But, looking at the other cigars that Tatuaje offers I guess the Havana VI would be considered their “budget” line.

To cap off this review, I must say that looking at these two truly Boutique blends, you can’t go wrong with either of them. But when it comes down to it, I’m tilting my hand in favor of the Diesel Unholy Cocktail. Is it price? Maybe...  After burning through a 5-pack of each for this review I find the Unholy Cocktail to be a more unique and enjoyable experience and the Havana VI to be similar to cigars that you can find at a lower price point. Now I may get chastised for that last sentence since Tatuaje has a die-hard following that would likely view my opinion as blasphemy but I’m not saying that the Havana VI is a bad blend at all. I’ve enjoyed every one that I’ve had. All I’m saying is I liked the Diesel a little more…that’s all!!!
