Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro

Description

Project 40 goes dark

Project 40 has probably impacted your life, without you even realizing it. Basically, Project 40 is based on the concept that 50% percent of your happiness comes from genetics, 10% is based on circumstance, and the remaining 40% all depends on your outlook and mindset. The goal being to find how a product can have a positive impact on your mind and body, and improve your happiness and comfort overall. We all know that cigars are a relaxing activity that brings people together and helps create a sense of comfort and mental well-being, so it was only natural that Alan Rubin of Alec Bradley would apply this concept to cigars. What is even more natural is that eventually Alan would expand the line to include a darker Maduro version.

Enter Project 40 Maduro. For this version, a delicious Mexican San Andrés wrapper encases the same Brazilian Habano binder and Nicaraguan filler blend of the original Project 40 taking the flavor profile up a notch with smooth, peppery notes and a natural sweetness that Maduro cigars are known for. Dressed in a maroon and gold color scheme, this addition distinguishes itself from its predecessor in looks. Sure to be a hit like the 93-rated Project 40, the Maduro extension is going to go fast. Go on, take a walk on the dark side and enhance your 40%, grab a box today.

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro has received a 90-rating, noting: “The smoke calls to mind a brownie with its fudgy notes of dark chocolate and walnut, but also layers the palate with elements of leather, coconut and earth before a finish that smacks of black licorice."

Having many cigars over the years I’m still drawn back to this Alec Bradley project 40. It hits the spot every time I need a cigar. I hope they never stop making them as they will always be in my pack.

A fabulously constructed medium smoke with amazing draw. Wee worth the (reasonable) price.

I did like these better than the natural version, it has a slightly bolder taste. No issues in construction at all, each one had a nice draw. I with the price point was a little lower, but overall great cigar.

I’ve been buying these for a few years. They are mild yet flavorful and have a great burn.

Tight roll and mostly even burn. One in ten had to have a flame put to an un- burned side but may have been caused by my inattentive rotation while smoking. Could use a little larger cap. Flavor seems to be in my sweat spot— not too harsh and no after taste to speak of. All said, I’ll buy another box.

Burned well and smoked well but it lacked a good maduro flavor.

Very good cigar. Smooth but rich with flavors of Carmel and lite spice. Great finish as well. I highly recommend this stick.

This is a mild cigar, close to the H. Upman Titan that is no longer available. It was recommended by my local cigar shop.

Good clean cigar. Great burn and construction. Smooth smoke, didn't have the strength I was thinking it would though. A five star cigar for the money.

Excellent, well before you think about the less than $5 a stick. From the excellent cold draw to one of the smoothest nubs. Similar notes to te original 40, but with a sweet clean barnyard taste. Must try, tastes expensive and is absolutely not.

I have to start off by being transparent... I’m a big fan of the original Project 40. However, I'm definitely more of a “Maduro Man” when it comes to my regular smokes. I'm happy to say that I can now have the best of both worlds! This is a softer, every day, maybe with a cup of coffee, introduce your friends to the joys of the maduro kinda stick. First, the burn is nice, slow and even. Only 2 touch ups needed through the entire Toro; and to be honest its because I'm kinda anal about a nice clean edge. The taste is amazing if you like chocolate and leather like I do. The retrohale definitely brings in more pronounced leather, vanilla and cedar flavors. I'm happy to report very little if any pepper on the first 2/3rds and just the tiniest amount on the final 3rd. The draw was great with an ample amount of smoke and it kept a nice white long ash. If you can't tell, I love it and for the price it cannot be beat! Definitely my new daily go to stick. Can't wait to try it in the Gordo, could only find it here at CI!
