Say yes to Partagas

There's more than one way to skin a cat, but some ways just look so much better than others. Like this one - Dominican-made beauties from Partagas - for around 4 bones a piece....in a box! A seemingly too good to be true deal that only CI can deliver.

Boasting a dark and toothy, Cuban-seed wrapper grown in the Dominican Republic and chock full of flavorful Dominican Piloto Cubano long-fillers, this Dominican Puro is ripe with flavor. Smooth and satisfying with notes of oak, cream, earth and pepper, Partagas Cifuentes is a tasty little gem. Wallet-friendly, palate-pleasing, feel good handmades from Partagas.

I would give the flavor a 85-90% rating, the draw 80%, the very even burn 90%. Very good cigars for this price range and the slow burn makes it a longer smoke than others of this ring size.

Nice taste and full draw. However I’ve had a handful so far and had one already that was rolled way too tightly and I could not keep it lit and had to toss it. I hope that was an outlier. I

While exploring cigar options I tried both Cifuentes offerings, this was what I normally find with the Partagas, a tightly packed cigar that at times is difficult to draw regardless of cut ( punch, v-cut or flat ). Flavor is good when you can get a good draw, need to keep a Drawpoker handy, I’ll be leaving these for those with a better set of lungs, I like to relax with my cigar not exercise. The Diciembre is more for me

As the economy continues its path, alternative options for my cigar selection needed to be explored. That how I found the cifuentes line. Took a chance and discovered the Diciembre stick. Easy draw combined with a full flavor that has a peppery finish that lingers in my palate. I’ve had draw issues with Partagas sticks in the past but this is smooth easy draw. Not too pricey and tasty, what’s not to like?

Partagas are my "go to" cigars. The Ciduenties offer a robust taste with hints of dark chocolate, spices and wood. It's definitely smooth on the palette and the burn is even. I highly recommend this medium bold cigar. Goes very well with a neat glass of bourbon.

I bought a 5 pack of these. I have smoked 4 of the 5. 3.of that 4 would not draw as they were rolled way too tight on the business end. After cutting off nearly 2" of the cigar it was fairly enjoyable. Unusual for Partagas and CI.

I'm a big fan of Partagas, this is a good smoke but is a little milder than the clasico which is my preferred. Burns smoothly, no structural issues. I would recommend a box for sure.

I usually prefer robusto or pyramid ring. But this lonsdale fits so nicely in my finger crook. And what taste. Strong smooth, with a perfect burn on every one. I also like a semi-tight draw and this one delivered. Once again Partagas never disappoints.

Customer Testimonials
Wow...I will back up all the positive reviews so far and add that this is another very good stick for the money. Stayed very consistent throughout with a great combination of pepper, spice and cream all throughout. Reminded me a bit of a Punch but this was very smooth. I thought the construction was good. Recommend.

I got a deal on the perfect ten Partagas sampler with Cifuentes enclosed. A great every day cigar. Good flavor, draw, and burn for a nice price. None of the tight draw issues as with some of the other Partagas cigars I have experienced. Hats off to Partagas for a job well done! And a decent deal offered by Cigars International one more time!
LW of SYLMAR, CA
A very good cigar, goes well with Bacardi Gold on the rocks.
TL of Simpsonville, SC
I like it. I must say the corona tastes totally full bodied to me. First half of the smoke is nothing to bark about, but a little cream does develop halfway through. Simple as that. If u can get them at a good price, cop you a few.
AB of Hampton, VA
Tried one of these last night. Pre-light aroma was very pleasant, earthy and notes of dark chocolate. After properly toasting the foot, I lit up and had some uneven burn issues right away but a quick correction evened things out, after which the burn remained razor sharp all the way to the end. I've been smoking a lot of Don Pepin sticks lately (which tend to have an abundance of peppery spice) and this stick was a nice detour from that. Much creamier and a little mellower than DP's stuff with some nice, deep earth, cocoa, and tobacco flavors. Draw was definitely tighter than I am used to but overall did not detract too much from the experience. For the price it's pretty much impossible to complain about this cigar. This is a good stick and one that I will definitely be revisiting. Worth checking out.

Just picked up a box of the"enero" size-Patagas Cifuentes blend for the first time in years and after tasting the first one,I asked myself;"Why the &%@$# did I wait so many years to buy these again ?!"and then I reaized that these are the same, very consistent. To me they are 92-95.Flavors to me are earthy and toasty with some spice and pepper dancing around,a nice old-school type of flavor.I love to taste and if possible smell the soil that the leaves I'm smoking grew in,each his/her own, that's just me.This blend nails it!Kudos Partagas! Thanks C.I.!
RK of COLLEGE PARK, MD
Delightful smoke. Good consistent flavor, even burn and construction. Good reviews from friends also, and the aroma was found appealing by a lady who does not smoke cigars. I would buy them again.

Got some on a deal to get free shipping. Good move. Very good. Nice draw, wonderful flavor.
JM of Defiance, OH
Only complaint was the cigars seemed to be rolled to tightly and hard to draw. Other than that the smoke was smooth, mellow, and mild. Great smooth tobacco flavors. Might try another box just to see if this box was a fluke.
MG of Palmer, AK
For the price, the Cifuentes Enero is one of the best cigars out there, hands down! I have smoked this cigar for several years and, in comparison to more expensive cigars, can say this is a great smoke! Good draw, burn, consistancy and flavor. Spicey with a little sweetness. For the price you cant say no!
TE of OCALA, FL
Splendid for the $$. Smooth draw. Even aroma throughout!
KH of STREAMWOOD, IL
I'm not good at rating the flavors in a cigar, I only know what I like. I'm on my 4th box of the Cifuentes Febreros in the last 8 months. These are my favorites. I find myself taking several mini-puffs in a row and breathing the smoke from the cigar so I can stay "with the moment" with these babies. There is a spicy flavor in these cigars that I can really enjoy. They are a perfect "medium" in body and give me the slightest buzz. I smoke 'em with a glass of "Rebel Yell" bourbon. I split my CI orders with a Buddy and never have to ask if he wants Partagas. At this time...my favorite cigar.
RL of MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI
this smoke is one of the best one I have smoked by far. Nice white smoke burns even love them and will buy them again
DD of Shippensburg, PA
The 2006 Enero has been the best cigar I've smoked. Hands down. Construction, appearance, draw and flavor profile, all top notch. A woody, very light cream like smoothness, slight fruit-ish sweetness with an unidentifying spice and a short peppery kick on the finish..perfection from Partagas. Now I like all Partagas cigars, but the aged Cifuentes is my personal favorite. If they pop up, grab some, I will too!
JW of Noxapater, MS
Appearance-wise the cigar was nothing to write home about: Somewhat bumpy with a squishy, tacky feel. Firm draw. Slightly off-putting prelight aroma. Once lit, I right away noticed a strange, overripe fruit note. Short yet syrupy finish. At the midway point I noticed some black pepper notes, which offset the fruit. At this point I was okay with the flavor profile. Overall, not bad but a little too out of the ordinary for my taste.
AF of Bloomington, IN
This is one of the finest cigars I have had from CI. Smooth, very flavorful and with an even burn and superior construction. The subtle flavors emerge one by one as it burns. I will definitely buy more of these gems.
MA of Bethany, IL
There are cigars, and there are Partagas... I'm not saying these are better than every other brand, what I mean is: every Partagas I had ever smoked had a unique flavor profile unlike all others, and Cifuentes further exagerates that exotic taste and sent I associate with the brand. This is an excellent, affordable change of pace cigar (and a cigar smokers alternative to flavored and infused brands. I only have two criticisms of Cifentes (Februario): 1) It is rather one dimensional throughout the smoke, allbeit a unique flavor 2) The draw is much tighter than I care for Definately worth checking out, but it has its limitations. Still at the current price point, you can't go wrong
RS of Valhalla, NY
Better than expected. Being a novice cigar smoker this one was great. Started a little peppery, a smooth nutty then finished with more pepper. I'm not a fan of peppery cigars or spicy but this one was so creamy smooth that I would smoke again.
JM of Brighton, TN
Incredible deal. May be my all time favorite. If you like the Dominicans you should give these a try.
TM of Johnson City, TN
Great deal! Don't pass this up. If you're a fan of Partagas, get some now before CI regains their sanity.
DP of Pinehurst, NC
I was not impressed with the Cifuentes Diciembre on many levels. It is a very nice looking cigar, and the pre-light aroma is enticing, but my attraction to this blend stopped there. The draw was too tight, the burn was uneven, and I did not find this especially tasty. Rather a one-dimensional smoke with some decent woody notes to the flavor profile. However, it also had some strong paper and charcoal notes that did not appeal to me. I cannot recomend this smoke for those reasons. It is not good! A much better way to spend your 60 beans would be to spend $50 on a box of the Blue Labels from the Rico clan (of course from CI), and $10 on a bottle of Chimay ale.

Partagas Cifuentes Seasonal Blends

Steve R
I was fortunate enough to taste a few of these at this year’s RTDA in Las Vegas. Long story short, it blew me away. In my mind, it was the best release at the show, and I’ve been waiting to receive our shipment ever since, ready to make an employee purchase. It finally hit the docks about 3 weeks ago - the card was swiped, and I was puffing away by 5PM that same night.

I’ve never been a big fan of Partagas. To be honest, the only one I’ve ever truly enjoyed has been the Serie D #4. Because of this, I was hoping the official release of the Cifuentes Seasonal Blends would be as good as those tasty samplers. Let me tell you, they are. Actually, I think they might be better. Loaded with rich, spicy flavors and backed by a punch that’ll knock you out cold if you’re not ready for it. This is my kind of smoke. A slightly pressed, densely packed cigar that’s dark, bulky, and burns like a dream. It’s too strong to become part of my ‘every day list’, but I can easily find time to smoke one once a week, preferably after a tough day or a big meal. I’d like to thank Daniel Nunez and Benji Menendez for creating a legal Partagas that’s right up my alley!

note: this Staff Review was written in November of 2005, when the Partagas Cifuentes was originally released.
