Gran Habano #1 Connecticut

Description

Numero uno for a reason.

This mellow to medium-bodied blend was crafted to deliver delicate, smooth flavors in droves. Designed to compete with brands Macanudo and Ashton, the #1 Connecticut lays to rest the myth that mellow cigars can't pack a lot of flavor. At play you'll find a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, sitting atop a core of Nicaraguan long-fillers and binder. This recipe serves up predominant notes of cream and toast, before additional hints of nuts, leather, and a touch of coffee enter the fray. Highly enjoyable, the #1 Connecticut dances between mellow and medium-bodied during a slow, gradual burn. The blend has even received an impressive ’4.3’ rating from SMOKE Magazine.

Only smoked 4 or 5 of these so far, but quite pleased. If the rest of the box is similar, I would upgrade to 5 stars.

The box I got was dry. I am re hydrating the cigars in my humidor. Will try again around December. The one I cut was good but dry.

I bought a bag of five Gran Habano #1s. I like them. If your just starting out you owe it to yourself to at least try them. They are smooth and burn true right up to the nub. I will always try to keep a few in the humidor just to have a good smooth Connecticut rolled cigar.

This was the first cigar I fell in love with.... that was 15 years ago. I had to buy a single stick to verify it was just as beautiful as the first I'd smoked. If you're looking for a loud and complex cigar... this is NOT it. But if you want a light, creamy cigar that is the definition of a Connecticut wrapper, this for you. A beautiful smoke that is nice anytime of day and just sweet enough to be a desert smoke.

Customer Testimonials
....This morning, sitting by the pool with a good cup of coffee, I tried my first Gran Habano, a Connecticut #1. From start to finish it was a pleasant experience. It won't be the last of these I try.
FT of Powell River, BC
Whaaaat!.... The GH#1 is an excellent cigar. It is smooth and creamy with a sweet finish. The size is large and in charge! It's mild, but flavorful. Great cigar with a great taste. I'm gonna be up late finishing this monster because I don't want to put it down. It's a five star cigar and I can't beat the price. You must try the 7x70. It will not disappoint.
EW of Virginia Beach, VA
The Gran Habano #1 w/Ecuador CT wrapper is my absolute favorite of the cigars offered by George Rico. My preference is the the Rothschilde (4.5x50). Rich taste but mellow, perfect draw, and great construction. A mild-medium blend of leaves from Nicaragua rolled in Honduras, It is truly a jewel for those who prefer a milder smoke. The body is medium but with ample flavor. I prefer a 40-minute smoke--hence the Rothschilde--these cigars are keepers.
KK of Valdosta, GA
I bought a Gordo 7x70 at a local dealer here and immediately came to CI for more! (BTW, CI price is 1/2 local!) This is a fantastic smoke and I bought two bundles. Be prepared to spend some time on this one, boys. Almost 2 hours to burn through it.
LH of LEXINGTON, KY
Maybe I had higher hopes than I should have from reviews. I found this stick bland and uneventful. Nothing (even being a "mild") jumped out at me. It wasn't so much a disappointment but it wasn't what I expected. On a good note, it was extremely well crafted, had a great burn & very easy draw. I hate to badmouth this stick because it wasn't necessarily bad, just not my thing. If you come in with a free mind & a good cup of coffee to pair it with you won't be let down.
TR of Garden City, MI
Well constructed, mild smoke. Easy like a Sunday morning. Great for the first cigar of the day.
LG of Alpharetta, GA
Amazing. This is the best cigar I've smoked in years. The aroma...construction... body...all perfect. And that's smoking it 24 hours off the truck. Trust me...Just buy it.
GC of PERKASIE, PA
5 x 50 Robusto: good burn and construction, BUT tastes like the typical "house brand" $1.00 stick. At $21 per 5 pack these things are ridiculously over priced. I get better taste out of a Casa de Garcia 5.5 x 50 stick at 1/4 the price. And the Casa de Garcia is more fully packed and lasts a lot longer. I burned through the Gran Habano in about 20 minutes and I'm not one of those cigar smokers who puff constantly.
RA of MESA, AZ
what can one say! gran habano has never ceased to amaze...not a true fan of light wrapped cigars...but this fine specimen tantilized my tastebuds from start to finish! well constructed burns evenly throughout & leaves no doubt you will be buying some more....in my opinion yo! better than vegas 5 gold! just sayin!
CH of Philadelphia, PA
Purchased 20 of these sticks thru joes daily deal. Wow goodness! I'm not one to write cigar poetry like some of the other enthusest on here but I liked this stick so much I had to leave a comment.
TH of Palmetto, FL
I must log in on this 'Great' cigar. All that is promised, right out of box. Know even better after resting. Highly recommend, 'Thanks Again', CI !
BJ of Henderson, NC
A pretty decent cigar with impressive burn and great ash. A bit on the mild side with a grassy note over top of leather and a very slight nuttiness. A quality cigar, but not quite to my taste. I would like to see how some more aging would affect this one.
PO of Fairmont, WV
Best Connecticut wrap I have come across yet. Burned great and didn't come apart. Really good smoke.
WB of CHISAGO CITY, MN
I orded these on a special, 10 for eithier $20 or $25 dollars. One of the best bys I have ever made from CI, because this cigar is worth buying a box in order to always have them on hand. They are welll constructed, smoke pretty even, and has a flavor that if is wonderful in taste. It reminds me of the 5 Vegas Gold, and a little bit like the Alec Bradley Harvest. It has a nice long smoke time, and never becomes harsh all the way down. Try it, you owe it to yourself
DM of Taylor, MI
Gran Habano #1. I had A great experience with this cigar. It had A great flavor profile that I did not expect from A milder cigar. The burn was near perfect with A very thin burn line. I'm not A big fan of mild cigars but this one taught me A lesson. Some mild cigars can deliver A lot of great flavors. I personally scored this cigar A 99, A near perfect smoking experience from A milder cigar. Who would have guessed it? Fifty minutes of sheer smoking pleasure.
RB of Rockmart, GA
The GH CT#1 cigar has to be one of my favorite mild smokes of the year. With a light wrapper that almost looks like milky caramel and a beautiful triple cap. Taste? Vanilla milkshake, that's what first came to my mind when I had my first puff. As the smooth, thick, velvety smoke lingered in my mouth, I was struck by how beautiful this cigar is. Vanilla milkshake is definitely the word to describe it. Or maybe whipped cream. The last third is more powerful with more pronounced tastes of chocolate and wood. Beautiful cigar.

Every year I play in a very special golf tournament with 16 guys called "The Sleeve". It's 3 days of Golf, Cigars, & Garlic (thanks W.J.). I supply the cigars for the trip (around 350 cigars) and we usually go through over 100. This year I picked up a gran habano sampler to add to my insane collection. My cousin & the Dillman lit up the Green label Connecticut #1 & fell in love. They said it ranks right up there with their favorite Ashton smokes. I was intrigued so I bought a box of the #1's Gran robusto 6x54. I got them in last week & stuffed them in my humidor. Getting excited, I couldn't wait any longer to try one myself. I cracked one open last night and WOW!!!!! what an awesome smoke. It burned perfectly all the way down. Big plumes of smoke, silky smooth, & tasty to the core. This is a cigar you can literally sink your teeth into. I chewed on this thing for over an our & couldn't put it down. I would definitely put this up against any medium cigar out there, Ashton, Perdom Reserve Champagne, ESV 91 etc.... I'd give it a solid 92 ranking. Go buy a box asap.
MR of Howell, MI
Don't take me wrong but they need to improve in their wrapper. I've bought two bundles on that weekly special. It seems I received more than others maker's but I never called in. The one I like the best are Connecticut #1. The next one are siglos#3. I don't care to much for habano #3. The Connecticut has a spicy start then become smooth an sweet it has a great finish. Burns well, aroma prefect. Siglos also spicy an smooth right too the finish. Habano are spicy too but stronger in the gut. Connecticut 91, Siglos 90, Habano 87 and the other only has a Gran Habano band 88.
FD of Gardena, CA
The #1 robusto is another one of those sticks where you take pause as your enjoying it and say to yourself "wow, what have I been missing all this time?" I can't believe I waited as long as I did to try this cigar. It may have just taken over the throne as my favorite mild/medium cigar. Absolutely delicious!! Cream, nuts, wood, and a touch of citrus. If you enjoy 5 Vegas Gold, CAO gold, or any other delicious connecticut wrapped mild/med cigar you'll love this one. And, to top it off, the construction is top-notch!!
BH of Baltimore, MD
I bought the Connecticut #1 Gran Robusto and i felt like it was a very smooth cigar...burns pretty well and even...long lasting and very flavorful...i would definitely recommend it to someone who enjoys mild to medium cigars
MK of Troy, MI
I had a moment to try the #1 Connecticut (Gran Habano) and I was very pleased with the puff on back to the band. Consistent draw... not too terribly complex. But you don't need that with this stick is just a very nice medium bodied cigar. I fragrance that is nice enough to rival sticks of twice the money. Not bad... not bad at all. The pack will sit you down for a good 25-30 minutes. A great after-work-get-through-traffic stick. My Rate, this stick: 86
C of SSouthern, CA
Another CigarFest '07 Cigar (Gran Habano). Nicely made cigar and the 6 x 54 size is a favourite. Excellent draw, even burn but just too mild for my taste even as the first cigar in the morning. For those who prefer a mild, Connecticut Shade cigar, this would be a very good choice
MC of MLeesburg, VA
Connecticut #1 (Gran Habano)is a great, mild cigar. Extremely smooth & mellow, great w/morning coffee.
