Maximus. Taking Diamond Crown to another level. If you enjoy the regular Diamond Crown blend, you’re in for a real treat with the DC Maximus. The secret behind this exquisite cigar is the dark, oily wrapper. Rolled with a super-rich, Ecuadorian-grown El Bajo sungrown leaf from the Oliva family’s farm, this cigar is almost as enjoyable to look at as it is to burn. A bold, full-flavored cigar that’s chock full of robust, satisfying flavors and luxuriously smooth from start to finish. A wonderful (but expensive) top-shelf premium.Diamond Crown Maximus received a well-deserved 93-rating noting: "a rich, sweet cigar with plenty of cedar on the palate and a finish with notes of espresso beans."Quantities are extremely limited.
I am smoking one of these as I write this and this is my first Maximus. I'm in love; I find it to be more in the full body range. Loads of pepper taste, even a little jalapeno spiciness in the first half. The second half has mellowed a bit, still a good amount of pepper, but also getting some leathery notes through the nose. The construction is flawless with an almost perfect burn as I've come to expect from Diamond Crown. I love the J.C. and now I'm infatuated with Max; it's a torrid love affair.
Flavorful with a smooth mouthful of complexities. Perfect burn with a 2 flick ash. Worthy of a special occasion smoke. 45 minutes of pleasure.
Pretty good overall. From the reviews I had read I was expecting something sweet and slight spicy. What I ended up with was mostly spicy. The smoke is definitely medium to full body and full flavor. The smoke was very smooth and enjoyable. The flavors didn't change much, the potency did not really climb through any portion either. I like full body and full flavor cigars so none of this was a problem, it just wasn't what I was expecting. More leathery and peppery than anything else. The burn line was razor sharp and only had to discard the ash twice. Burn time was about 45 minutes, required no touch ups. I enjoyed this one to the nub.
Just fired up a DC Maximus...let me say...worth every minute. Makes life in Kabul, Afghanistan, enjoyable...for the hour long smoke. Started off very nice and built up from there.
The DC Maximus Pyramid is an outstanding smoke with plenty of flavor and excellent notes. I had the Pyramid #4 and was pleasantly surprised. A definite "must have" for your Humidor!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tried the Maximus with great expectations but was sorely disappointed. It lacked the fullness and boldness that I have come to expect from other brands in this price range. I am looking to unload the remainder of this box on someone that appreciates them.
I made an offer on five of the 8x50s and won. These cigars taste great from the first to the last puff. Med to Full but nothing overpowering. Very smooth and delicious. One of the few expensive cigars that are actually worth the money. Enjoy!
