Bahia Maduro

Description

Bahia delivers while the CI Hit Squad empties both barrels in its ongoing War on High Price.

Bahia Maduro is Exhibit #19,650, delivering tasty handmades at prices that can best be described as recklessly low. Bahia Maduro is the one that put Bahia on the map some years ago: an all Nicaraguan-blend of aged Cuban-seed tobaccos secured in a 3-year old Habano binder from Nicaragua and cloaked in a dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

Expect thick plumes of heavy flavor as this medium-bodied Bahia dishes out a rich tobacco core complemented by notes of coffee bean and earth. Price seals the deal: 20 handmades, heavily discounted. Your choice of three chunky sizes.

I like a variety and splurge from time to time on big name brands but, Bahia Madurai’s have been my go to sticks for a number of years. The flavor is on point and they are well constructed giving it an even burn. Other than the occasional deals that I purchase, these are by far the best value for the quality you get.

A solid budget maduro. Good coco flavor with some woodiness and a hint of cinnamon spice without being offensive or overpowering. Construction and draw are good despite the wrapper not being exactly seamless. Ash is very flaky and crumbly as it burns. This one needs an astray close by if you want to keep the flakes off your lap. It's not a Montecristo, but it's a much better smoke than a lot of comparably priced junkers. Nothing that will blow you away, but a perfectly good cigar for an evening on the porch.

Great mild cigar with lots of smoke, even burn, easy draw, and long ashes. Sometimes I want a light smoking cigar, and these fit the bill without breaking the bank.

I always order these on sale. I’m a fan of the Bahia line. But this Corona Gigante batch has been hit or miss this time. Though the flavor profile was still good, about 30 percent of these had tunneling issues. Took a lot of the fun out of it, constantly babysitting it with a cutter. Better luck next time, I’ll give em three stars for the ones that worked.

Very decent everyday cigar for the money. For the most part burns even, chocolate notes in the beginning followed by notes of pepper. Wrapper is sweet tasting. Not a bad Maduro.

These are one of my favorites. Strong, personable taste matched with good construction keeps this as one of my 'go to' cigars. I much prefer these over the other Bahia sticks.

Not rolled tight enough, resulting in a rough ash and uneven burn. But then again, I guess you may expect this for the price they were. Probably a good buy for a novice smoker, but I am going to give them away and move to Perdomo

i like a good maduro and when i got these in was just looking to try something new…. boy am i glad i did! i’ve found a fondness for the torpedo shape and this is a well rolled cigar with a easy draw that smokes very evenly with rich hints of coco and earthy tones with a hint of spice toward the end and a wonderfully thick smoke.

Good long smoke. Good but not great flavor, perfect for the value. I'm not afraid to hand them out to friends and family without breaking the bank. I have smoked over 4 packs in the past couple years and will always have some in the humidor.

Perfect for an everyday full bodied smoke. I’ve been buying this brand for years, they usually arrive a little dry, but a day in the humidor brings them back

The first thing is to keep in mind how inexpensive these cigars are. Once you keep that in mind you can appreciate that compared to more expensive sticks this burns so perfect. The taste starts a little rough but 1/4 of the way kicks into action. The taste has hints of fruit and nuts, mostly apples. You will enjoy.

Bahia Maduro

Keith

The current cigar deal threat level is red. Red as in Bahia Maduro and its bright red bands, that is. She’s a beauty that Bahia Maduro, bringing brains, brawn, and good looks: quality construction, generous ring gauges, smooth, rich flavor…. to top it off she’s a cheap date. To be sure, for $2 to $2.25 per stick it’s in the running for top handmade value.

Bahia Maduro begins with an aged blend of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-leaf tobaccos covered in an Habano leaf binder, and ends with a dark, marbleized Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper to complete the recipe. The wrapper’s not cosmetically perfect, but damn this thing looks good…..almost too good.

It burns even, draws perfectly. That alone would be good enough for a stick costing a buck-fitty. But the flavor profile brings a lot more. Medium in body with a dense, rich, and hearty flavor profile, at its core Bahia Maduro is defined by ample notes of cocoa, spices, earthiness and a peppery-sweet tobacco base. Combined with a smooth yet deliberate and slow burn, this sucker is memorable and downright lip-smacking. You’ll smoke it, you’ll nub it, and you’ll want more.

At full MSRP, it would be a regular in my rotation. But at CI’s prices, I will grope it amorously, early and often. In a world where the enjoyable sub-$2.50 maduro is soul-achingly rare, the Bahia Maduro blend is a prince among men. Maduro fans – this is a gift. Don’t pass it up.
