Ask a cigar lover to name a master blender nowadays, and nine times out of ten their first response is going to be AJ Fernandez. And for great reason. From his monumental successes with boutique lines like Diesel and Man O’ War, to his revitalization of Cuban classics like Ramon Allones, to his own core line of products like New World and Bellas Artes, AJ is truly at the top of the game. Today, we welcome one of the newest additions to his wide portfolio – the New World Cameroon. 

Can you believe in all his time blending, AJ’s yet to release a cigar with a Cameroon wrapper? Well, no longer. New World Cameroon features a sultry blend of tobaccos with binder and long-filler both supplied from AJ’s farms in Esteli. While the first New World was a full-bodied, all-throttle blend, this one’s a little closer to medium. Lighting it up, you’ll find tons of sweet, spicy notes perfectly balanced by the African leaf.

My initial experience is that it is a decent cigar, but probably underperforming for the steep price. Specifically in terms of flavor, the promise of its Cameroon wrapper is barely detectable. Perhaps a few more weeks in the humidor might do the trick.

When I say from start to finish, I literally mean from start to finish. It started with the cold draw with a hint of floral and cinnamon before it was even lit. The draw was perfect using a V-Cut. The burn was even throughout. It tasted wonderful with the hints of flora and cinnamon more intense when lit followed by a smooth chocolate. This will definitely be a cigar that will be in my humidor from here on out.

I have to say, this is a serious favorite and go to. When I try a cigar I think, one I'm hoping I will like...and it turns out to be wanting and I need something to clear the palate...this is the cigar I turn to. Today for example, tried a Partagas I got as a 5 pack...perhaps I didn't let it rest long enough in the wineador, but whatever, it was less than savory. So I dumped it and lit up another one of these...ahhhh...tobacco bliss. I can guarantee these will always have a place in my rotation, and they will always be a go to when another stick is less than savory.

For the flavor, pepper & spice on the 1/3. 2/3 a bit of raisin is highly noticeable with pepper and spice on the backend. Final 3rd raisin, cream, & sweetness. The smoke overall is excellent but the ash does not hold for so long. Definitely worth the order & adding to your collection.

I hesitated to write a review because this is My favorite cigar. It is my go to. The only problem is supply chain. It isn’t always available for immediate purchase. Giving it a five star rating will only increase demand. But, I must be truthful - this is an excellent value smoke. Too bold for most of my friends, but great for a daily smoke if you need spicy and nutty flavors. Need 2 more boxes!

I’ve had plenty of Cameroon wrapper cigars and they rank best for me but… this box of New World I got doesn’t have that Cameroon taste and flavor I so enjoy. It’s smooth and constructed well but the Cameroon must be hidden in there somewhere. This is my second stick and I’m still searching for it.
