601 Red Habano

Description

Another gem from 601.

Handmade in Erik Espinosa's boutique Nicaraguan factory, the 601 Serie Red employs a silky Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. It sorta reminds me of Cuba’s Ramon Allones Specially Selected (right down to the fur and smell). Nestled within this leaf, lies a potent blend of aged Nicaraguan long-fillers.

Each 601 Red Label features dominant notes of earth and sweetness lingering on the back of the palate as waves of velvety flavor greets the senses. It's got some power, but the smoothness and balance help to mask its strength. Medium to full-bodied, and extremely well-made, you are in for a treat with the 601 Serie Red.

601 Red Label Habano received a 93-rating, noting: "A pointy torpedo whose nutty, woody core of cedar and walnuts is framed by notes of honeyed tea and a mineral finish."

I am by far a professional reviewer so I can’t tell you that I tasted figs or dried beef jerky ect. But I can say that is was a great full flavor and some octane in it with no bad aftertaste through the whole cigar . The smoke was thick on every draw. No burn issues. Cigars International is always my go to for my cigars. I will definitely be purchasing these again ! Want to try the Blue and Green also. Thanks CI. Keep up the great service. JT.

Gettin' ready to mambo. Visually a near perfect specimen of a habano wrapper. Construction was spot on with an ample double cap. V-cut and off to the races. Plenty of spice up front, plenty of smoke throughout, settles in as a great burning 3.5 intensity out of 5 with plenty of Nicaraguan tobacco flavors. Although I'd like the blender and company to succeed, but do not buy these. I like the price point exactly where it is and would hate to see demand outpace supply. Carry on.

Once humidifier well what a pleasant smoke with morning coffee. A hint of sweetness throughout with an easy draw. Well worth the price. Not overly layered and complex but a good "go to" smoke.

Good Habano wrapper. Wood and white pepper and yes, tea aftertaste. Not a flavor bomb but satisfying smoke.

The 601 Red Habano Robusto is one of my go to cigars along with the Punch Signature. They both have a lot of strength and spice at a very affordable price. Keep em coming.

Nice cigar. Habano notes, with delightful flowery tones of rich tobacco undertones. Rich sweet spot with sweet finish. Nicely rolled, good draw, good middle of the week pick me up.

Customer Testimonials
Wow! Had the habano wrapped version. I bought a box without ever trying one, because I am a huge fan of all the players involved in making this cigar. Not complex, but smoooooth, aged tobacco flavors, without any strength. I let them sit for a month, and pulled out the first one today. Ill be through this box very quickly, I would imagine. Once again, Espinosa nailed it, with some help from Pepin. Awesome experience. I highly recommend!!!!

I've tried the Green and Red. Both cigars are really well made and have a lot to offer; however I prefer the red because the flavors are more vibrant and dynamic. I tasted some pepper, cocoa, cinnamon, coffee, and a dry berry flavor. Throughout the smoke the flavors seemed to be vying for supremacy over each other, sometimes in a disharmonious fashion. Definitely a full-bodied cigar. At times I had to put it down and come back to it. I think the wrapper is the star here.

Plenty of 'power' for a Connecticut seed cigar. Smooth, creamy flavour with a firm ash and even burn. A very well made cigar, good looking, and with a lot of flavour. Worthwhile.

One of the few Connecticut wrap cigars I really enjoy (601 Serie Black and Red). This is probably due to this being more of a medium bodied cigar rather then a mild cigar because of the filler. It has a great taste to it and I have found it to be one of the more complex Connecticut shade cigars I have had. I definitely recommend this cigar, and even to those of you like me who don't usually enjoy Connecticut shade cigar need to give this one a try.

(601 Serie Black and Red) habano is my go to stick, I was hooked on the edge but the 601 kicks it up another notch, if your a fan of pepin then this is a must try, grab at least a 5 pack because i gaurentee you will rip through them in less than a few days,,,long ashes

I've tried every Havana style stick out there and I can say, with full confidence, that Serie 601 stands alone. Great smoke start to finish, I even find myself ripping the band off and going the distance with these babies! I always wish that the smoke would never end, but thats why they sell 'em in boxes!

601 Serie

Steve R

As per the usual, the Thanksgiving holiday called for an onslaught of primo cigars. Top-notch, full-bodied premiums that could stand up to my traditional (and supernatural) display of utter gluttony. Naturally, my favorites were chosen…Edicion de Silvio, Gurkha Centurian Double-X, Graycliff Espresso; the whole 9 yards. This year, a newcomer made the cut. 601 Serie, a cigar from the makers of REO and Vibe made in Nicaragua by Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia, the creator of Don Pepin Garcia cigars, 5 Vegas Miami, and Tatuaje.

601 Serie is a gorgeous cigar, one I instantly fell in love with in Las Vegas, celebrating its release. This beauty is good, plain and simple. It comes in two varieties, a dark, silky Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador and a darker, toothy Habano-seed wrapper grown in Nicaragua. Each is fully loaded with Habano-seed Nicaraguan long-fillers, a longtime favorite of Pepin.

I chose the Habano-seed. Not because it’s stronger, because believe me, the Connecticut blend definitely has a lot of kick. I just love the flavor of Pepin’s Habano-seed wrappers. Rich, toasty and earthy, these cigars always smoke smooth and delicious right down to the very last puff. Although the tobaccos used are primarily the same leaves found in Tatuaje, the flavor is very different. Once you pick up the gentle sweetness on the aftertaste, you’ll see what I mean. The smoke fills your mouth in velvety fashion, coating it with rich, robust flavors. The ash is bright white and firm, holding strong until the midway point, where I had to help it off into the ashtray. The cigar was full-bodied, relaxing my aching stomach after thoroughly abusing it just 2 hours prior. Perfect. I didn’t want it to end. But, they made more than one, so I’ll surely be back for seconds, thirds, and so on.

I had a lot to be thankful for this past Thanksgiving. My family and loved ones, my beautiful fiance, our brave soldiers abroad, the incredible meal that was prepared for me and of course, a divine selection of handmade cigars. 601 Serie was a wonderful toast to end the celebration.
